Looking for inspiration

Sat Jun 20, 2009, 5:20 PM
I'm scouring DA from it. And having just returned from Alaska, I can feel it kindling.

I'm redesigning Lux Lucis again. I just wasn't happy with the last design and it was evident in how I just could not finish coloring his picture to finish my series. I'm doing a total overhaul of him, and i should be uploading some sketches soon and hopefully a fully finished design and CGed piece soon.

Man am I feeling this art bock shit ROUGH. I was a bit discouraged lately, though, because my latest piece, Anatomical Deconstruction that I entered in the art festival didn't get anything, and int eh past two years of entering I've gotten at least something. I guess a little validation is always nice.
But anyway! I'm currently waiting on a backorder of wacom table pens to come in on the website so I can get one and replace the one I lost. Hopefully then I would be able to finally get back into Photoshop and the whatnot again. I have plenty of stuff I want to color.
I've got the inspiration but not the motivation to go through with the ideas I have... But current projects I have in mind are to redesign Lux Lucis, draw Ignis again, and Lacuna(Shyuu) again. All on my to do list, I'll get to it eventually.

Droelves: The almost-full Lowdown

Mon Apr 6, 2009, 6:55 PM
The kingdom is called Iara, a pristine location of beautiful works of architecture and flourishing flora, where a race of canine creatures known as Droelves live. These creatures seem to be crosses between dragons and wolves, though several bear features that are completely unique to the race. In addition, the Droelves are broken up into sub-species by element: light, shadow, earth, fire, water, air, and lightning. Every creature of each sub-species bears a unique mark upon their backs(Dorsal mark) that is different between every specie. Within each group, each one has a mark on their cheek(or both) that is about as unique to each individual as a fingerprint. They all have bodies larger than the average canine, and every one has a long, sleek tail with usually a unique trait on the end.

Iara itself is ruled by the Lights, with the Air Droelves next in line, and finally with the Shadows at the very bottom. This branch, known for its cruelty, is a dwindling group of Iara due to their constant crimes against the lands and its other inhabitants, primarily due to execution and exile as punishment. Shadow Droelves are the byproducts of Droelven existence. Once members of the other elements, every one of the Shadows had succumbed to a disease known as Venaliter, more commonly called the Corruption. After falling to this disease, dorsal markings are erased and the marks on their cheeks become identical. The onbringing of the disease is spawned by inner darkness: envy, greed, rage. As the name suggests, the Droelve becomes corrupted. The initial signs of Venaliter are a loss of the dorsal mark, and a change of the markings on the cheeks. From there, deterioration occurs at a rapid or painfully slow pace, depending on the evil nature of the individual. After the initial signs, these Droelves are often banished to the Wastelands. Statistically, the Lightning and Earth Droelves are most prone to Venaliter due to their volatile natures.

The current leader of the Shadows, Zink, belonged to the earliest organization of Iara. At that time, he was a Light Droelve by the name of Caecus, and one of four elders that governed Iara. Lux Lucis was also a member, the second oldest of the group; Caecus the youngest and son of the Eldest. Caecus was always the most radical of the four, demanding strict order and harsh punishments for disobeyance. The others did not, however, share his views and quarrels were frequent. Deterioration of the group was slow and at first, unnoticed. Realization came in a sudden gust of foreboding air, when Caecus killed one of the elders, mortally wounded the Eldest, and lost his dorsal mark. In outrage, Lux Lucis banished Caecus to the Wastelands, rallying a force to chase him out. Soon after, the Eldest perished, unwilling to receive healing out of anguish for the loss of a comrade and a son. Lux was suddenly thrust into a position of sole leadership, forced to govern Iara on his own and take a much more lax hold, allowing the Elements to govern within themselves. Caecus, meanwhile, corrupted rapidly and changed his name to Zink. In the Wastelands, he quickly asserted his authority and smashed down any Droelves who dare stand against him. He was quickly known as the formal leader of the Shadows, and from that time, Zink began plotting his revenge. It has been two hundred years since that time.

Still at the mercy of my imagination. I plan to add individual Bios in here for the other Leaders. Eventually.

reflections

it's hard for me to believe that it's been a year.

for anyone who doesn't know me personally, or has known my past account, chances are you won't know what I mean.

a year from last thursday, i got into my father's car after school to have him tell me my mom was diagnosed with colon cancer. a year from last friday, i was the biggest wreck i'd ever been in my life. A year from today, my family was informed that my mother would be going through six months of chemotherapy.

i can't wrap my mind around the fact that a year has passed and than my mother has already recovered. just...these past few week's i've been thinking about a lot. my mother has another examination coming up, and she's expressed what i can only describe as terror about the appointment. will they find something? will we have a repeat of what we went through in those six months?
these are all things i don't want to think about but can't abstain from.

i'm sorry to wash you all with my momentary misery, but sometimes it feels better to just write what i feel, whether anyone reads it or not.

Devious Journal Entry

Mon Feb 18, 2008, 5:05 PM
So this has basically been the slowest art production period everrrr
I want to draw stuff but nothing is coming out right and I end up just throwing away what I draw. I have some Cloverfield doodles somewhere, thought, that I way throw into my scraps sooner or later. And I'm working on the design for my Earth Droelve that I never ended up posting because I was never happy with it.
Hopefully it will come out properly and I can get it up. I redrew Shourin(who I am seriously considering renaming) and I needed to do Shyuu(who will also get a new name). I need to redraw Ignis, since I really only have on representation of him...

Soooo, I have a lot to do xD Or, a lot I want to do.
